Re: Club Med Punta Cana
We stayed at the Majestic Elegance in Punta Cana (adults only)...but the building next to us was the Majestic Colonial (for families). They have a lot of activities for kids and the beach and pools are awesome! Price should be similar to Club Med.

Re: Club Med Punta Cana
We stayed at the Excellence Punta Cana, I would say if you are going with your kids just make sure that the resort has a lot of activities that you want to do -- there weren't many site seeing activities when we went down a couple years ago. Also, I would pre arrange and pay for transportation BEFORE you go down -- It can get a bit overwhelming when you are coming out of the airport if you don't have reservations already made.

We stayed there when they first opened and it was HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!! Did you have a similar experience with shotty workmanship? For example, the faucets in the shower were not properly installed and there were HOLES that you can see into the wall! The light switches weren't even screwed in the walls and the shower leaked into the room b/c it wasn't sloped properly. Then the pool - ugh - it was cold, globs of dried cement everywhere in and around it..... Food was terrible..... I hate to sound so negative, but we went with a good deal a month after they opened and got scr*wed by how bad the place was. I'm curious to know if it improved.
We said it had a 5 star dream on a 2 star budget.

Re: Club Med Punta Cana
My friend (who has very high standards) stayed at Club Med DR earlier this year and is still raving about it. She said it was fantastic for her 10 and 6 year old and they are returning again next year.
We stayed at Club Med Cancun and the food was amazing. We didn't have any experience with the kids club but I did see groups of kids doing activities all day long with club counselors.

Wow, it must have taken them a while to get it right. We didn't experience any of that. But, I will say that I don't think it was worth the extra money to stay on the elegance "adults only" side. The colonial side was just as nice.

Re: Club Med Punta Cana
If you value food, then Club Med is your best resort for food...no other AI resort compares to it...
They have real french chefs (who are paid top money) to prepare meals....each meals will be like eating at a 5 star restaurant.
It is not the best looking resort in DR but it has the BEST stretch of the beach!!
Great price!!

Re: Club Med Punta Cana
Thanks. It is the airfare that I am worried about though as it is more or the same as staying at the resorts.
