Co-op/Condo people-How much do you have your insurance policies for?
In terms of your coverage and stuff, would you mind sharing your numbers? Not how much your premiums are, but your liability and property insurance.

When we were renting and had renter's insurance, we asked the company to help us estimate and they walked us through our valuables in order to determine the amount..I also got the optional rider for my engagement ring...good luck!

In a co-op the management company insures their part, ie. exterior walls, doors, windows, etc..
if you were to insure your space, it would be for the interior. not sure of my limiits but our coverage was about 300 bucks for the year.
In a condo, you own the entire unit so i can imagine coverage being more.
I would go online and get estimates to how much it would be. Its just like looking up car insurance.

My mom has a co-op and doesn't have insurance. It is recommended but not required.

Everyone SHOULD have insurance... a coop in my complex got hit with lightening...which caused a fire in 6 coops... they had insurance and were fully covered...in order to b accepted into our complex you have to show proof at closing and they want you to show proof each year at the start of the new year. You never know what will happen..insurance is important!
