co-sleeping the twins?

I was planning on having them share the same crib for the first few months, but I have read conflicting things on this.
What did you do/plan to do?

i'm keeping them together until they start to move around alot....my doctor said this is best because they are so used to being so close inside.

Re: co-sleeping the twins?

I had them in the same cradle and then crib for a few months and then they started moving around alot and I had to separate them.

They didn't mind the separation at all.

Re: co-sleeping the twins?

I never had them together. They actually slept in their swings for the first 3 months and then went in separate cribs after that.

Re: co-sleeping the twins?

For the first month or so I will keep them in a bassinet in my room to give the EBF'ing a good shot. Then they will share a crib until about 4 months(until they can roll over)

Re: co-sleeping the twins?

I have both cribs set up, but i think I'll keep them in the same crib until they start rolling over. Depending on how tiny they are, I might keep them both in one bassinet in my room for a few weeks.

I planned on doing whichever they preferred. They were seperated into different NICU rooms and spent the first month apart so they went into thier own cribs when they each came home. They would nap in the pack and play together but not that much.

Re: co-sleeping the twins?

I honestly cant remember what I did. It was a long time ago. But I do remember one thing specifically...

They were in separate bassinets, maybe a month old tops, and I got the bright idea to put them on opposite sides of the my bedroom. (I guess I thought they were keeping each other up) All night long they were making goat noises across the room at each other. One would go...then the other one would answer...I guess they were too far apart and couldnt sense the other one. If I put them next to each other, even in separate bassinets it wasnt an issue. But if they were across the room they would "talk" to each other all night long.

Do whatever is right for you....

Re: co-sleeping the twins?

I am having twins in Feb. and plan on having them share a crib for a little while. I am going to have one crib in my bedroom and then the other crib set up in their nursery. My sister has twins who are 12 now. when they were little they only wanted to be together. She would separate them and they would cry. As they got older she would place them in separate cribs and by the morning she would find them in the same crib. The found a way to pull all the blankets from one crib to another so my nephew could climb from his crib into my nieces crib. They would end up sleeping with no blankets or sheets. They were pretty clever and not even 2 at that point. Now at 12 years old she still finds them sleeping together. During the day they fight like cats and dogs by night time they are best friends.

Re: co-sleeping the twins?

I kept my boys in the same crib probably for the first 2-3 months. Then I started noticing that they would wake each other up and thats when I seperated them and now they just throw things in each others cribs to wake the other up..
