Coats and car seats
When you put your baby in his/her carseat, are they in their winter coats? When we had our car seat installed, the officer said not to put the baby in her seat in a snowsuit (which we don't have). Now, we just strap her into the seat and cover her with a blanket, but I hate those few minutes while I'm buckling her in. Once she's in I layer a few blankets on her.

I didn't know you were not suppose to put you baby in a car seat in a snowsuit. I have one of those sack snow suits and I have been putting it on my DS before he goes in the car seat. The sack snowsuits actually have a whole for you to put the seat belt through.

Re: Coats and car seats
If we are driving locally I do leave her in her coat and I make sure the straps are tight. If we are going for a longer drive, I'll take her out of her coat in the warmed car and put a blanket on her.

Re: Coats and car seats
I use the bundle me in the car seat and just put a sweater or sweatshirt on her and a hat. She's still in the infant car seat so I can do all of that inside.

I think they say the thickness of the snowsuit compromises the way the straps should fit. I have DD in once of those light bunting pram thingies you get from carters and I put her in the bundle me with a blanket in the stroller while we walk to the car to keep her warm.
If you don't want to use the bundle me in the car seat I found this to put over while you get out

You aren't supposed to because then the straps aren't tight against the baby and if you got into an accident (god forbid) the baby can come out of the jacket.
Do the straps go inside the whole snowsuit so they are right against baby's clothes? That is like a bundle me, right?
To the OP, I'm not sure, DS is still in the infant seat

Great ideas - I loved the bundle me but my DD is 1 and I don't think her DD is in the infant seat anymore.

No, the coats come off in the car seat.

ditto. You are not supposed to have thick layers between the baby and the car seat straps
