Re: Cocktail dress
I have always stayed away from dresses like those. Not because I don't like them but I always THOUGHT that they would just accentuate the sagging large breasts. Is that train of thought correct or have I been missing out on good dresses all these years cause I never bothered to try.

Re: Cocktail dress
Deb - I think you need to try dresses on
but Tany is on the right track- drawing attention to a tiny waist which those dresses do- but only you can figure out if you are comfortable with the "boobage" amount
I have a different body then you- but I think you are going to want to stay away from anything empire- (high waist under the boobs)
a Tank dress could be great also
what stores do you have by you?

macys dillards nordstom eta- arent the above ones considered empire? ugh I am clueless. I just know that my boobs would sag way below the waistelines established in those designs

No, those are a-line, halter dresses. Empire waist is fitted under the boobs and then just hangs - they sort of fit like maternity dresses. They hide wider waists.
Your best bet is to try dresses on...a-line is universally the most flattering...and you will want something with support up top. They make halter bras now to go under those dresses.

Re: Cocktail dress
any of these black dresses are perfect
but I would do gold or red heels with it to add a touch of color

Re: Cocktail dress
Deb - I think a halter dress will be uncomfortable for you - even with a halter bra, that's a lot of weight on your neck - same argument as the haltertop bathing suit for us large chested ladies. There are a lot of dresses with wide straps that are still sext but I think you'll be more comfy cause you can wear a proper supportive bra.
