Coffee

I love my iced coffee with half and half but I know I need to give it up. I actually get headaches if I miss my coffee boost.

Any suggestions for a good replacement to my morning drink?

Re: Coffee

I've always heard Green tea is a good substitute for coffee.

or you can cut gradually- do half decaf/half caffiene and then over time just cut down until 100% decaf.

Re: Coffee

I will say that Fat Free 1/2 and 1/2 tastes just as good.

If you substitute that in your coffee, wouldn't that be good enough? You wouldn't have to cut down.

I assume you dont use sugar; b/c it seems you are more concerned from the fat from the milk.

This is what I do. Couldn't give up the half and half (I like it light). Nothing was a great substitute. Actually the best I found was lowfat 1/2 &1/2 or non dairy creamer. Typically, I do 2tbsp. of half & half and just put less coffee in the cup.

Re: Coffee

I wouldn't give it up, I'd just change it. Replace the half and half with skim milk - takes some getting used to, but it's not so bad after a while.

This is what I do - FF 1/2 & 1/2 - I find the Land O'Lakes is the best!

Re: Coffee

I dont think you need to give up your coffee...its really just the 1/2 and 1/2 that packs the calories. Try fat free half and half or skim milk instead. I'm not a huge fan of skim because I like my coffee lighter, but FF half and half tastes just as good as regular and I dont have to miss out on my morning coffee.

Re: Coffee

The problem is that I used use FF 1/2 &1/2 but don't like it anymore. The thought of it makes me cringe. Skim Plus FF 1/2 &1/2 I like better than LOL but I think I am going to just cut back. It will be SOOO hard. Thank you for all your ideas, I appreciate them.

Green tea might work...but certainly not taste wise.

Re: Coffee

How much half and half are you adding? Try adding one serving and see how light the coffee gets. One serving of half and half is 40 calories if your morning coffee is something you enjoy why do you have to give it up? Maybe you can cut those calories somewhere else in your meal plan for the day.

Thanks, I started measuring and it ended up beg 2 servings so I cut back the coffee to every other day...replacing it with iced tea cause I still need my caffeine.

Coffee itself has like no calories- it's what you add to it.
MY DH LOVES the Skim plus half n half- and it's not full of chemicals like most FF half n halfs.
And he uses splenda.

No need to give it up.

Re: Coffee

What if you cut back the AMOUNT of half and half? Make it part half and half, part skim milk? That way you still get the creaminess of the half and half without as many calories!
