Coffee

I have been tracking what I eat, and I notice that I drink way too many empty calories from coffee and how I make it. What are some tips to make my coffee less fattening?

I usually take it with skim milk and 2 sugars.

TIA!

I used to take equal in my coffee, but ever since I had dd I can't stomach any artificial sweeteners.

Re: Coffee

Regular brewed coffee hardly has any calories, and if you are already using lowfat or skim milk in it, I really don't see how you can make it less caloric, other than switching to a non-caloric sweetener or cutting out sugar all together. But even real sugar doesn't have too many calories unless you put a ton of sugar in each coffee or consume many, many cups a day.

I've heard people who can't tolerate artificial sweeteners do better with Truvia, which is somehow supposed to be more natural. Maybe you can try that?

But other than that, and trying to cut back the sugar or learning to drink it unsweetened, it seems like there's not much you can do. But unless you are indulging in really sugary coffee drinks from a coffee place on a daily basis, I wouldn't think coffee would add much in the way of empty calories to your diet. And if you really like to just use regular sugar and you enjoy it, I would have a cup or two a day (but maybe not 5).

I dont think One or two cups a day with or without sugar and creamer will make us fat. Im a coffee lover and i cant give up coffee even when i was pregnant. I gave up chocolates and junk food but not coffee.

What about using unsweetened almond milk instead of the milk and sugar? I find that the almond milk tastes very sweet and per 1 cup, it only has 40 calories, 3.5 g of fat, and 0 g of sugar (1 cup is 2 pts if you are doing WW).

I read "Skinny *****" a long time ago and remember them saying something along the lines of...plain black coffee is fine. Add creamer and sugar and you'll be fat forever!! It just kind of stuck with me. I only drink green tea plain now..maybe you can switch to plain tea a few times a week?

Would you consider trying it black?

I was a bit hesitant at first, but I love black coffee now!

Coffee

Each cup of coffee is 2pts and I end up having 6-8 pts on just coffee a day. I may eliminate one cup and replace another with just black.
