Coffee Cake

did a search but didn't come up with anything and most of what I found online seemed too complicated LOL

anyone have a good one?

It can be semi-homemade, I will use a cake mix.

preferably the kind that goes in a jelly roll pan or a square pan. With the big chunks of cinnamon sugar on top!

thanks! Chat Icon

Crumb Cake

Any Duncan Hines cake mix with 3 eggs and 1 1 /2 cups water. The Duncan Hines cake calls for oil DO NOT USE OIL IN THIS RECIPE!

Mix and put in large roasting pan with tin foil (Reynolds Release) and grease and flour tin foil. (Only use tin foil if you plan on transporting cake to another plate. If you plan on serving in the pan you use, no need to use the foil.

Bake 20-25 minutes at 350 degrees.

While cake is baking make crumbs

Crumb topping

3 sticks margarine (or butter) melted
3 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 tbsp cinnamon
2 tsp vanilla extract
1/8 to ¼ tsp almond extract

Mix all ingredients until solid – when cake is done break up and sprinkle mixture over top – put back in over and bake again for another 25 minutes. Let cake cool a few minutes and sprinkle top w/confectioner’s sugar

Re: Coffee Cake

this is one from the back of the domino sugar package - very yummy - i use choc chips and i do not add the walnuts

Chocolate Chunk Coffee Cake

A list of ingredients you will need:

Topping:
10 ozs. - semi-sweet chocolate, coarsely chopped
3/4 cup - chopped walnuts
2/3 cup - Domino® Granulated Sugar

Cake:
3/4 cup - butter or margarine, softened
1 1/4 cups - Domino® Granulated Sugar
3 - eggs
1 1/2 cups - sour cream
2 teaspoons - vanilla
2 1/2 cups - all purpose flour
2 1/2 teaspoons - baking powder
1 teaspoon - baking soda
1/2 teaspoon - salt

Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease 10-inch tube pan.

In small bowl, combine topping ingredients; set aside.

Beat butter and sugar in large bowl until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, sour cream and vanilla until well mixed. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in bowl. On low speed add flour mixture to batter, beating until smooth.

Spoon 1/3 (about 2 cups) of the batter into prepared pan, spreading evenly. Sprinkle with 1/3 of the topping (scant 1 cup). Repeat layering 2 more times. Bake 55 to 65 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack for 20 minutes. Remove from pan.

Makes 12 servings.
