Cold Medicine
DS had a fever last Wednesday into Thursday and DH took him to the doctor. Doctor told us it was a head cold and to give him Pedia Care...I just read the post about not giving infants cold medicine and I am sick to my stomach because we have given it to Lucas.
I just called daycare to tell them to stop and I will bring it home tonight. I didn't think to have DH question the doctor on the need for the medicine and now I feel awful.

Re: Cold Medicine
I would check with your ped to see if it's ok. Our ped said it's ok to give tylenol for colds and fevers.
Don't feel bad!

Re: Cold Medicine
Dont beat yourself up there are very mixed views on administering cold meds to babies depending on the ingredients and what your Dr says. We gave Ryan some on Dr's orders under 6 months old and he was perfectly fine...and then I read all the controversial studies. If you're not comfortable with it then wait til he's older, that's all!

Re: Cold Medicine
I'm sure he'll be fine, esp. if the doctor said it's ok. Every doc has different opinions on medication, and his doc thought it was ok. I wouldn't beat yourself up over it-- can you call the office back and see what they say?

Re: Cold Medicine
Thanks - the ped did recommend it (even the brand to get) but I am going to stop him for now. The worst should be over at this point so I am going to just ride it out with him.

Re: Cold Medicine
FYI, if you're comf. you can still give Tylenol which helps w/aches, pains and fever and doesn't have any of the controversial "cold remedy" ingredients. Hope he feels better soon!
