Cold weather running - face mask recommendations?
Is there anyone with asthma who runs in the cold weather that has a face mask recommendation?
Do you just use a scarf? Buff? Specific mask?
I made the mistake of running the other day without anything over my mouth & my lungs were burning...wheezing...ugh.
TIA!

OMG YES!!!! I did this the other day and ouchhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! LUNGS HURT!!!!
I went looking at Sports Authority the other day and they had a bunch of balaclavas but I felt that they were so constricting.

My DH will sometimes tie a bandana around his nose/mouth as a makeshift mask. As you get warmer, it is easy to untie and take off.

What about something like this hoodie?
I don't have asthma, but for the first mile, until I warm up, I zip my jacket up to my chin (the color covers my neck, etc and a little bit of my mouth)

Thank you all for your advice!
A friend of mine who hikes Mt. Rainer told me she uses a buff & it works great for her asthma, so I picked one up for $20 on Amazon.
Until it comes - I'll be getting out my bandanna and scarf!

I got a neck warmer from a ski shop years ago and use that in the cold months. It's great because it can go over your mouth and then you can just push it away when you are done. I highly recommend it!
