Collagen?
Anyone use collagen in powder or pill form? Have you seen a difference at all? If you use the powder, can you taste it or does it change the consistency of your drinks? I know they say it’s good for many different things but not sure if it’s bologna lol.

Collagen?
I use powder. I definitely see a difference when I use it consistently. I put it in my water. Slight difference in feel. It’s kinda slimy but not bad. I tried the creamer for my coffee and it doesn’t dissolve all the way.

Re: Collagen?
I use Vital Proteins Collagen creamer in Vanilla in my coffee. It's delicious. I do use a friother thingy to dissolve it completely. I have a small battery operated o one I keep on my counter.
I also just ordered something online called Multi Collagen. I forget the brand. It supposedly has Collagen from several sources from fish to chicken to cows which they claim is more complete because the different sources have different benefits. I got Tropical Punch flavor and it dissolve super well in water and tastes delicious.
EtA....Vitauthority is the brand

Re: Collagen?
Thanks for the feedback! I have 2 different autoimmune diseases (Crohn's & Ankylosing Spondylitis-a form of arthritis basically) and in general want to start looking into more natural ways to improve my health. I am SUPER picky with taste and texture so I'm afraid I will buy it and then be grossed out lol. I wonder if the powder is more effective than the pills. Need to keep researching.

The second one I mentioned dissolves well if you follow the instructions. A mini friother is helpful too even for the ones you are using in water

Re: Collagen?
I use a vegan collagen builder called Skin Elixir. It has an acai flavor so I usually add it to water with ice and lime. It's delicious. I've noticed a HUGE difference in taking it. I have an autoimmune disease when I lose my hair in spots and since taking it I found that I haven't had as many spots and my hair is thicker and longer. It has works wonders on joints and my nails as well.

Re: Collagen?
Wow. I was just about to post asking if anyone can recommend something for joint pain and stiffness. My shoulders and knees are the worst of it but my hips were throbbing yesterday after trying to fish off the boat with a ton of boats going by. Had a wide stance for a long period of time and my hips DID NOT like that
I’ll look into collagen. Was going to google reviews on that “move free” supplement I’ve seen on commercials. Has collagen and other ingredients

Re: Collagen?
I take Vital Proteins Collagen.
I either mix it in my coffee. It will dissolve just gotta keep mixing it with a spoon or fork. Sometimes there is a tiny chunk I just drink it. LOL
But I usually put it in my smoothie in the morning (using blender).

Re: Collagen?
Those who have been taking it long term- do you see a difference?
I don't feel like I do, but I don't know. Maybe I haven't been consistent enough.
I have bad knees that creak and crackle when I bend them. The beginning of the cartilage breaking down I am sure. (runs in the family).
I started taking it for that and was hoping it would help with my hair- it has not. My hair is as awful as ever. Maybe my nails grow faster. Maybe. I am not sure I see a difference in my knees. They still bother me when I squat down and I do still here the noises in them.
What about your skin? I hear it helps with cellulite but I can't imagine that to be true.

i'll be brutally honest. i haven't bothered to observe if it helps my hair, skin, or nails. i really don't care... as far as collagen goes for these things. i've been blessed with a crazy mop of hair (blessing and a curse), so it wouldn't even be on my radar. i went the "curly girl method" for my hair, and that has made all the difference in the world. i know some ladies who don't have curly hair and have followed the method and have the healthiest head of hair they've ever had.
as far as my knees... it has made a world of difference. i have had knee issues for years. since i started taking collagen, i have noticed that i don't ache as much when i get up after sitting for a long time. i don't ache when i do squat-type movements. i don't cringe having to get up from the floor. going up stairs doesn't hurt as much any more.
do i forget to take it? yeah. if i run out, might i go a few days without taking it? yeah. but overall, i take it most mornings with my coffee. i've tried flavored ones. i've tried unflavored ones. i haven't found much difference in brands, but i don't regret taking it.

How long would you say you were taking it, on a regular basis, before you noticed the results on your knees?

it's been a while. i'm going to guess that it took about 6 to 8 weeks before i really noticed the difference.

Collagen?
I take hydrolyzed collage from Perfect Supplements. Great Lakes is another good brand as well. It mixes perfectly with either hot or cold liquids. I mix mine with coffee every morning and I’ve noticed it has helped my tmj. My jaw always makes a popping sound when I open my mouth or when I chew, sometimes it even locks for a couple of seconds when I talk. But I notice a substantial decrease of these things happening when I take collagen.
