Color Advice / Recommendations?
We're redoing our basement and need to very quickly pick colors.
There will be white bench cabinets lining the largest wall and I would like beadboard wainscoting along the main area (i.e. not the kids' play area). The two 'rooms' will open onto one another - they're an L shape, with the living area being the larger and primary part.
I'd like to do something vibrant and bright - thinking an aqua above the wainscoting with a tangerine as the accent color (potentially the main wall of the kids play area and various pillows, etc).
With that in mind -
1) is this a crazy combination? 2) what BM colors work? I found the following but am open to look at any in the family.
Thanks!!
Aquas Tranquil Blue
Passion Blue
Jamaican Aqua
Spectra Blue
Tangerines Tangerine Mist
Tangerine Zing
Vivid Beauty
Seville Oranges

I think I get what scheme you're looking for but feel that all of the colors you chose are too vibrant to go together. If you want to go for two totally opposite colors like that, I think that at least one or preferably both should be more muted (lighter).

I think I agree with this - keep in mind that the colors are going to be much darker and mroe vibrant when they are actually on the walls. I'd pick a lighter blue color and stick with a bright tangerine as the accent color. But the combo is perfect and will look fantastic with the white!

Re: Color Advice / Recommendations?
I love that color combination! It's very beachy and tropical. But I agree with previous posters about keeping the palate light overall. I think in a basement, you want to err on the side of going lighter... darker colors can make a basement feel darker and more closed in.
So I would use a pale blue as your main color and do accents in a more vibrant tangerine (as pp suggested).
But I would be careful of going too light with the tangerine, as it can look "peachy" and a lot of pastels together can look dated. So I would be more bold with the orange color.
I think it would also be good to do all of the walls in the pale blue (sometimes it feels more "open" that way) and then bring in a brighter or even dark orange color with things like throw pillows, lamps, maybe an area rug, and other accessories.

I love the color combo-opposites on the color wheel always look great.
When ever I start planning colors for a room I find one inspiration piece-a pillow, a vase, a piece of art and I make sure the colors of the paint match that piece exactly. Then I build everything off of that. I agree the shades you picked will be much more bold on the wall, I'd try softer tones of both.

Re: Color Advice / Recommendations?
Found this and would be willing to switch to pear green from tangerine (then i can sneak in a little orange here and there ).
Inspiration room (NO yellow!! that would actually be white, toning down the color scheme a lot).
Color palette for the above room (again - yellow becomes Dove White) And we'll have an office with a french door that DH wants more modern. Thinking this so the greens put the two rooms in a similar palette (he loved the combo).
