Colored my hair ~ Now i'm in a funk. Help
Hi Ladies. I've been blonde for the past 15 years (maybe a bit longer). Over the last couple of months, I was really craving darker hair. I did a demi-permanent color on the roots and pulled it to the ends which looked really pretty, almost like an ombre. This eventually washed out so I decided to just do a permanent Brown. My hair stylist said that in order to really cover up all of the blonde highlights, I would have to go darker brown which was fine, I was really ready for a change. I did it. I loved it. Now....I don't want to say that i'm regretting it but I feel drab and in a funk, I don't feel cute or attractive. I'm getting tons of compliments on it and literally everyone has told me that I was born to be a brunette and to keep it this way always but I just don't feel like myself.
2 questions: 1) Has anyone else gone from a bubbly blonde to a sultry brunette and did it take a while to adjust? I don't know if i'm having color remorse or just going through an adjustment period.
2) Brunettes - what colors make you feel good? I feel like my makeup and clothing choices are not complimentary now.
I'm really out of my element here!!!!

Aw! I'm sorry you're not enjoying your new hair at the moment!
I went from crazy bright bright red to a very dark brown a few years ago. It took a few weeks but now I LOVE it and would never go back to red.
You may need to change your makeup. What went well with the blonde may not look as good with your new dark hair.
The only colors that make me feel drab are light shades of blue and green. Not pastel but blah/washed out colors. Brights (red, pink, yellow) look amazing now that my hair is dark.

Hmm...I've been wearing a dusty rose blush and light grey/blue eye shadow that always makes me look FAB!! I guess I should try to play around with some new colors tonight.
Also, I LOOOOOOOVE to wear black. almost everything in my closet is black and now I feel like that makes me look so drab.

Colored my hair ~ Now i'm in a funk. Help
I think going brunette for the Fall is perfect! I think orange/red, gold, bark browns and forest greens are a terrific complement to brown hair.

Colored my hair ~ Now i'm in a funk. Help
Also found this for you:
1. The Perfect Foundation for Brunettes Foundations with an ever so slight rose tinge pick up tired sallow complexions; a slight yellowish tinge hides reddish skin blotches. Otherwise, neutral beige hues work best for brunettes.
2. Eye Make-up for Brunettes Brownish and greyish lid shadows are very beautiful for brunettes. The lid shadow may also contain a hint of red or yellow like you find it in mahogany or mocha. However, the deciding factor for the colour of the lid shadow is the eye colour. Brunettes with blue eyes look particularly beautiful with greyish light purple hues Green eyes best come into their own with camel-beige, yellowish beige or mossy green lid shadows Grey eyes and brown hair are a marvellous combination especially with lid shadow in khaki or in a brownish rose shade
3. Clever Rouge Accents for Brunettes Rouge does not only enliven your face it can also be used to set skillful accents. Brunettes look great with rose shades. You may like to select a rose shade with brownish undertones. Steer clear of apricot or peach hues. They can lend a greyish, lifeless touch to the complexions of brown-haired women and will make them look older. You should also be careful using blush in orange colour hues. This applies in particular if you complexion is not entirely flawless. Orange blush only draws unnecessary attention to reddish blotches or very pale skin. However, you can’t go wrong using bronzers either to add a glow to your complexion or to emphasize parts of you face. There is however one caveat: Use bronzers sparingly. Otherwise, your face may appear too shiny or your facial skin is too dark compared with the skin around your neck area. 4. Brunettes Have More Fun with Lip Colour If anyone can carry off clear red lip colour brunettes are our first choice. Bright red is a great lip colour for brunettes but it should not contain strong bluish tinges. Brunettes also look marvellous wearing delicate brownish pink and plum lip colours. Women with reddish brown hair may also add the colours terracotta or cinnamon to their favourite lip colours. Brunettes should however steer clear of light rose hues especially pearly rose. Rose colours diminish the liveliness of your beautiful brown hair.

What if you added some carmel or other colored highlights to give it some definition.

I was going to say that. I once went all brunette and it was too monochromatic for me. If you can add in some honey or caramel highlights it will give it some shimmer, and definition, and lightening it up just a touch.

Yeah, I think that might be it. I'm a natural brunette but like the pp said, it's very monochromatic. I find that blondes (natural or otherwise) tend to have so many highlights and lowlights and it looks so much better. I dye my hair a dark red now and love it.
I also agree with changing up your make-up/clothes. Those colors are great for blondes, but they don't work as well for brunettes IMO. I'd go for earthy tones.

Re: Colored my hair ~ Now i'm in a funk. Help
I actually did this last month! I went from blonde to super dark brown (it's the darkest color before black I could pick). I have done this a few times and i always wind up feeling like I made a mistake after like 2 weeks. I get bored easily of my look and I know EXACTLY what you are going through. I personally have found with my hair when I start to feel that way it's because the brown has started to fade and the blonde is coming through. So if I darken it again (I use the same color) it just pulls that deepness back in and I love it again. The other mistake I have made a few times is that I tend to LOVE ash brown, but I don’t look as good in ash tones, so as soon as it fades even a little its not good, so I need to pick a warm brown and even when it fades a little it looks ok.
So my 2 pieces of advice: Make sure you went dark enough Make sure the undertone (ash, warm, red) is right for your coloring Put a glaze in it to enhance the color
Again, I am naturally dark but I dye it blonde and I have found even after like 2 weeks my color will fade out pretty quickly, it takes like 3 times for the dark to really ‘stick’.
I also have to change my makeup, I use pinker blushes when I am blonde and peach when I am dark.

Re: Colored my hair ~ Now i'm in a funk. Help
You need to change your makeup. I went from dark to light for the first time this spring and noticed I needed to change up my coloring. I had the makeup already just never really used those colors. I have blue eyes too. So when my hair was dark I did a lot of dark brown eyes and plums and pinks for my cheeks. I stayed away from corals.

This is so true!! I make sure my foundation always has a yellow undertone.
As far as clothes, all earth tones, rust is my fav. and jewel tones. Black never really good on me but I wore it. I look better in chocolate and navy. I wore a lot of navy and gray together last year.

Re: Colored my hair ~ Now i'm in a funk. Help
Im a natural blonde (with added highlights to cover grey) i flip flop often between blonde and dark brown. I scare myself for the first few days, but always end up loving it. Once my recent highlights start to grow out, I'll be going dark brown again.
