Colposcopy during pregnancy?

Has anyone had a to have this done?

My PAP came back irregular and they want to do a colpo on my cervix without a biopsy, but I am nervous this can be dangerous. My mom passed away in July of Cervical Cancer, so they want to keep a close eye because it came back with a low level of HPV. I am so scared and nervous!

Re: Colposcopy during pregnancy?

how far along are you?

Did they say there is any risks?

I have had tons of colposcopys and biopsies ( I too hgad cervical cancer) BUT never when PG. And I di have bad paps when PG, they were going to wait till after I delivered to do anything ( I ended up with an M/C) and we moved forward.

I would be nervous of the shock to your cervix the test brings.

I would want them to reassure me 100% that your cervix wont open or thin...

I am 14 weeks. They said it would be ok if they didn't do a biopsy...but I am really nervous.

Re: Colposcopy during pregnancy?

I think you should trust the doctor, unless you would feel better seeing someone else for a second opinion. I have had colposcopies in the past and isn't it when the dr. looks with a special microscope-type tool? It was a long time ago that I had mine. I am no medical professional, but if I'm right, I don't think there should be harm caused by that.
