Colposcopy while preggo???
I just got notified I have to go get a colposcopy done. When I get it down I will be in my 2nd trimester. Has anyone needed to get one done while preggo? I am a little nervous. Any info will help. TIA

Re: Colposcopy while preggo???
I had one done at 16 weeks with little sedation. I was given about 5 cc's of Propynol whereas most people receive 25-30 cc's I believe. The preparation was gentle. One scoop of a powder that you mix into 8 oz of clear liquid every 15 minutes for 4 hours. My doctor would not allow me to use dulcolax or an emena because he did not want to put any strain on the baby or me. It was awful, but overall I made it through and you will too

Aww, I am sorry. I have had a few colposcopy's but never while pregnant. I know my doc had me take aleve before the procedure, but check with your doctor, since you are pregnant, I would imagine you could only take tylenol. Do try and have that day off, just because it can be uncomfortable, and you may get a little crampy afterwards. Just sending you hugs, hoping all comes back okaY!

Re: Colposcopy while preggo???
I had one in my 3rd trimester. No medication given.
It was uncomfortable, I'm not going to lie. But it was tolerable.
If you need/want more details feel free to FM me with questions.

Re: Colposcopy while preggo???
I had one early on too, no pain meds or anything. Wasn't that big of a deal.

Re: Colposcopy while preggo???
Thanks everyone. I had one years ago but it was way before I got preggo. I'm just nervous because I am preggo.
Thanks again

Re: Colposcopy while preggo???
My doctor had recommended one and due to my cervical issues I chose to go to another doctor for a 2nd and 3rd opinion. Both doctors said it wasnt necessary and could wait until after delivery.
In my case I had been diligent about my PAP smears and had had a normal PAP just 3 months previously.
