Columbia House DVD Scam

Has anyone had a problem with this co.
sending DVDS not ordered, then threatening
collection agency for non payment
There is 18 pages of peoople complaints
on the internet, they ACCESS CREDIT
CARDS BANK AND CHECKING ACCOUNTS WITHOUT
PRIOR AUTHORITY.......HAS ANYONE ANY
IDEAS HOW TO FIGHT THEM, HOW IS THIS
BEING ALLOWED TO GO ON ALL OVER THE USA

The same thing just happened to me. I tried to call them and you get nowhere. You bounce around in "Push #" heaven.

In the invoice they send you it gives you a bill and you have to send the DVD's back paying out of your own pocket.

You have to send them an e-mail and tell them to send you a return pre-paid sticker so you can send them back.

It takes a while and it's a big pain.

They shouldn't be allowed to do this.

If you know you didn't order the DVD, don't open it, and write RETURN TO SENDER and you won't have to pay anything.

Can you just tell them you never received them? If yoy didn't sign for them do they have any proof that they reached you?
Or, ask them for a copy of the contract that you "signed" to request these items. Obviously there isn't one, so they won't have a leg to stand on.

p.s. A lot of times, their "collection agency" is an inside department designed just to scare you.

The problem I found was you couldn't get through to a live person. You just bounced around and bounced around till you finally reach a message that tells you to e-mail them or write them a letter.
