No past experience with this but I'm assuming your plan would work fine... Good luck!

I also have no experience but think it's a great idea!! I think your guests will appreciate it as well bc it is more convenient than going to 2 parties back to back!

I personally would want to have them separate since they are two very different occasions, not only for me, but for my family.
That being said, I don't think there is anything wrong with it.

Re: combining 2 celebrations into 1 party...
We had DD's baptism the weekend she turned 1 so we celebrated both her 1st birthday and baptism in one day. Had the church at 12:30 and party at 2. The party was mostly a bday celebration but that's how we wanted it, you could definitely incorporate both in the party (with decorations, 2 cakes, etc).

Re: combining 2 celebrations into 1 party...
i had my son's 2 yr bday party and my 3 mo. old son's baptism on the same day/celebration. It was literally the day my 2yo was born, so how could I not celebrate it on the same day, and since my church does baptism on certain sundays, it turned out to be a combo party.....it worked out well, bc everywhere just drove in once for the occasion..and it saved me $$$....the decorations were every other table, bday or baptism and we had one cake with two inscriptions....
