What part of Long Island you are looking for the restaurant?
ETA>> Just saw you edited the post and said you already booked the restaurant. For favors you can do lollipop crosses, M&M or mints with the baby's initials. Depending on the feel of the restaurant, sometimes you don't even need to add centerpieces but balloons always seem to make things festive. Or a small centerpiece of flowers.

Re: Come on in all you creative mommies! Major Christening Help needed!!!!!
Landon baptism party was very simple. We had it in the backyard. CPs were blue and white balloons, and a few christening mylar balloons here and there. Favors were candy bars with personalized labels that I made myself. We had no entertainment besides my ipod.
I like combined favor centerpieces. Like maybe do cross cookies on a stick and arrange them in painted flowerpots for the centerpieces.

DS's Christening was 2 weeks ago. We had about 65 adults and 20 children.
Favors: My sister made chocolate covered oreos for the favors - they were covered in white chocolate and had a blue cross on them.
Placecards: I just used plain ones I got from Michaels. I printed them on the computer and used blue ink.
Centerpieces: I had floral centerpieces. They were short square vases with green leaves around the bottom, green hydrangeas and white roses. They were really nice and the best part was that they were delivered to the catering facility.
Entertainment: I did not hire any. Instead, I had a crafts table set up for the kids. It worked very well.
I didn't really do anything "different" but I was happy with the way it turned out!!

Re: Come on in all you creative mommies! Major Christening Help needed!!!!!
DS's Christening is on Sunday and I have so much to do in preperation. It is really difficult to do with a baby It is a backyard party with a tent and everything. DH DJ's so he is providing the music/entertainment.
I did cookie favors and I ordered them from an Etsy vendor Cross Cookies Here They were reasonably priced and I thought the writing on the cookie was adorable. Ours is going to say "God Bless Sean Pierce and July 11, 2010"
I am also doing candy centerpieces (I must be out of my mind because it is taking forver). I got painted flower pots from Michael's and used a styrofoam ball in the middle and wooden skewers and hot glued candy (not chocolate) onto the skewers and stuck them in the styrofoam and then in the middle I have a picture of DS on a skewer. It sounds weird but they are coming out really good. I put shredded paper on the bottom to complete the look. When I get done I will post pics. Balloon centerpieces are also a great route to go as well. They always look good!
ETA: We are also having someone come and do some face painting and make cotton candy!

We had the same number of kids at our son's christening. As far as entertainment, I used a vendor on here. Touch of Class Entertainment. They do a "build-a-bear" type thing. The kids loved it!!!

for my son's christening - i made placecards from brownie lollipops dipped in peanutbutter- and i attached a paper cross to each stick
for centerpieces - i just used a bunch of cheap frames in different sizes with all different pics from his newborn shoot
we just did an early dinner so i did not worry about entertainment because we did not have that many kids

We had DD's Baptism at a restaurant and did not have entertainment. For favors/centerpieces we did personalized cookies in the shape of a cross. The cookies were arranged in a basket and made to look like a centerpiece, then at the end of the party, each guest got one cookie to take home (each was individually wrapped). This was a good way to kill 2 birds with one stone! Worked out great and everyone loved them!

We got our favors at Chocolate Duck in Farmingdale...Choclolate Crosses with personalized ribbons. I didn't have entertainment, or CPs and it was fine.

Re: Come on in all you creative mommies! Major Christening Help needed!!!!!
i am working on DS' now too, his is 7/31!
I am still debating CPs, probably balloons, cheaper than flowers. If I had a girl, I probably would have done flowers but I feel like I can make it more "boy" with balloons
favors - chocolate dipped pretzel rods, ill do them myself with favor labels done by me also. I was thinking about making some sort of a CP out of these and then people can just take them as they leave.
working on a cake now. I dont want a traditional sheet cake, something more "fun"
we are not having a DJ and we are having only a handful of children so entertainment will be an iPod with our selection of music. For your party, how about someone who makes balloon animals? That would be great for 25 kids. Very little overhead and im sure it is very affordable!
