Comforter or quilt for DC?

Both of my kids are going into a full sized bed when we move in a month or so. Every set I like is a quilt set, but I've always done comforters.

What are the pros/cons of each?

Is a quilt heavy enough for all year use?

Where did you purchase your big kid bedding? I keep looking at PBK and Company Kids, but I'm not sure I'm loving anything enough for the $$$ (well PBK has great stuff, but its way too much $$$$ for the entire set.)

I prefer comforters. In my opinion, quilts seem so much heavier and "old-fashioned".

Look at JCP or Kohl's has nice sets too!

Re: Comforter or quilt for DC?

We bought a quilt because we thought a comforter would be too heavy and we can always add another blanket or flannel sheets during the winter.

We got the Circo transportation set from Target.

That actually may be good for DD since she has sensory issues. She likes a more "weighted" blanket.

Thanks!!! Hope you are feeling goodChat Icon

We bought DS a Met's bedding (with comforter) set when he moved from a crib to twin bed last summer. He has never used the comforter. It is just too big and bulky. Instead he uses fleece blankets, or now in the summer crocheted ones that my grandma made. Chat Icon

Re: Comforter or quilt for DC?

I thought the same thing..but I loved the Potterybarn kids "Katie Set"

but I was pleasantly surprised just how thick and heavy the quilt actually is! She was perfectly fine with this and I have no doubt she will be fine in the thick of the winter..and if not she has her baby fleece blanket from PBK at the foot of her bed still she can use for extra layers
