Commando Crawl/Scoot
DD is 6 months old and just started doing this tonight on her mat.
I found her in her crib up on all fours after her nap and was shocked. I thought that was going to be the skill of the week......didn't expect this!
Looks like I need to get on the baby proofing.
How long after your kids started doing this did they actually crawl?

My son commando crawled for months! Literally I think he crawled regularly for about 1 month before he started walking so he commando crawled for 3-4 months

DS started army crawling at 5 months and didn't start crawling on all fours until 11 months!

DS started crawling at 6.5 or 7.5 months (I can't remember  ), but he NEVER learned to crawl on all fours! He had the most ridiculous crawl I've ever seen, he looked like a crab

same here...we called it the "boot scoot"...my DS never crawled on all fours..and went from boot scoot 6-7-8 months (i forget) to walking at 13 months!

Ditto! The week that DD started really crawling, she pulled herself to a standing position and was cruising (walking while holding onto things) a day or two later!
