Anyone go to the informational meeting last night? Thoughts

My mom attended (she has kids at the elementary and middle school level too). She was pretty shocked to learn a little more about it. Specifically regarding the pass rates of the tests and the fact that all data regarding students is being collected and sold. (Scores, special needs, disciplinary status, etc)
At the meeting they provided sample letters regarding opting out. They confirmed that there was no hold back of funding from the state if students opted out. The school board was present at the meeting. Almost seems that the district is encouraging opting out.
Having not been at the meeting myself these were some of the things my mom got from it.
My concerns are the implications for the future if I opt my student out. College etc. Anyone able to shed light on that?
