Re: Communion Gift Question

I think the bonds are up to 17 yrs now.
I always give cash and let the parents handle it from there.

Re: Communion Gift Question

Bonds mature in 18 years, but, they don't get their full value until after 30 years. I'd go with cash. The parents may have a college fund open for the child and can put the money in that.

Re: Communion Gift Question

I always give cash for religous events. I personally am not a fan of bonds.

Re: Communion Gift Question

How much cash do you normally give for a communion? My godson is making his first communion tomorrow.

Is $100 generous enough?

$150?

We gave my friend's daughter $125 two weeks ago (her party was at Frank's Steaks). I *think* I gave my Godson $200 plus a rosary for his (it was 8 years ago).

Re: Communion Gift Question

To me, a bond is a waste, parents should invest more wisely for their kids. Plus you need the SSN.

Give cash.

P.S. I originally typed "bongs are a waste!!!!!!" Chat Icon
