Is anyone having a communion this year? We've finally booked ours after I priced out almost all of Western Suffolk.Chat Icon

Now on to the invitation....

Anyone have ideas for favors? I have my amazing cookie lady but I'm thinking of something to entertain the few kids we do have.

Re: Communions

How about a character sketch artist? My aunt had one at her 50th birthday party and all the kids loved getting their pictures done.

They go home with them, so I guess that's a type of favor.

Re: Communions

My dds communion was last year. Heres a pic of our favors. We had 3 babies there and they got the Praying bear stuffed animals. Then the older children and adults got personalized popcorn bags and in the boxes were picture frames with a praying lil girl and mints personalized with the date.

If you are looking for something to entertain the kids and use as a favor, we hired Nick the Balloonatic for my DD's birthday party - He's great. Kept the kids busy for an hour.

Re: Communions

Where are you having the party? Ava's isn't until next year, but if we are still living here I would love to have it at the Crab Meadow Golf Course. We have been there for Easter Brunch and Breakfast with Santa, and the food was great and it was a decent sized room.

Are you looking for a DJ? We have one that we use for all of the family parties (we have a lot of kids). He is not your average DJ, he is more like an entertainer for the kids. He does all of the usual kid songs, dances and games and also does a lot of give-a-ways. We love him, because the kids are kept busy the entire party and the adults can actually sit down and enjoy themselves. He is also very reasonably priced.

As for favors, I like the Hershey Bars with the guest of honor's pic on the label.

Re: Communions

I have to make a decision on what we are going to do for DS. We are stuck between having it at home or out at a small venue.

Finding a small venue for about 30 - 35ppl that is reasonable has been the problem. We don't have a lot of kids - just 5 under 10 and 5 tweens/teens plus about 20 adults. If it were summer I would not have a problem doing it at home because we would be mostly outside. I don't want to do a dinner at a restaurant - too boring for DS. Chat Icon Chat Icon Im just very torn on this.

Sorry I don't mean to hijack you thread.

Re: Communions

My goddaughter has her Communion in May. They will have the party at their home. They also will not be doing favors or entertainment - just lots of good food and good company.

Re: Communions

My son's is in April. He loves Star Wars so the color scheme, center pieces and favors are Star Wars themed. Not traditional, but it *IS* his day and this is what he wants.Chat Icon

We're doing the good food/good company thing. I'm not looking for enterntainment like a kid's party, more like small crafts for the table.

There aren't that many kids but a few hours at a table & they're going to want to run around.

Ages are 1, 7, 9, 10. I'm sure the 15 & 18 year olds can entertain themselves.

We have ours in May and are getting a DJ so hopefully that will cover the entertainment of the kids.
