Computer Issue- can anyone walk me thru this?

I was on a website trying to find a hotel this morning and my computer froze on me- I hit ctrl-alt-del, etc... and nothing worked, so I manually shut it down.
Now when I try to start it back up I keep getting a blue screen that says
UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME
It offers the suggestion to restart in safe mode to remove or disable components (F8- Advanced Setup- and select safe mode from there).
NOTHING I am trying is working. I called the computer place in town but they can't look at it until Monday morning and I need to work on it tonight because I have files on it that I need to finish and print out for tomorrow for work.
I got the computer at Staples a couple of years ago and it came w/ Windows XP on it- so I don't have a disk. When I go to microsoft's page they're telling me to insert the disk and use the recovery option- but I don't have one...
Help please!! TIA!!
Oh it also talks about disabling BIOS Memory options- but I don't know how to go about doing that.

Do you hear any noises? Like clicking or thumping?

Sounds like the dreaded Blue Screen of Death. I had to reinstall some driver to make it go away. There are some good web sites that can help diagnose the problem and then walk you through its fix. Google "blue screen of death" or BSOD.

My brother had something similiar recently. He used a service in Lindenhurst for $90 to fix it. They were able to save all the pictures and everything on it. FM if you want me to find out the info of the place.

Thanks- I'm way out on the North Fork, so I'll plan to drop it off on Monday if it's still not fixed.
I have my DB and my DH trying to get their hands on a cd that I could maybe use... here's hoping!
