Computer question?
We have a PC at home and the DVD/CD comparment does not open up. We push the button & nothing.
Who can fix something like that?
We bought the computer in August of 2006 from Costco.

Re: Computer question?
When you boot up the computer, is there a light on the front that comes on? It should come on when you press the button too, even if it doesn't open.
This happened to my nephew and it was simply pushing the power cable snugly into it. But it could be "dead" too. CD/DVD drives aren't that pricey to replace.
If you're not even getting power, you could try to open it, reseat the power cord or try another power cord (you probably have more than one free).

Re: Computer question?
There is a pinhole on the front of it usually right next to the button. Use a paperclip in the hole and you will click a manual eject.
But I would try turning it on and off first.

Or when you turn on the computer, go into My computer, then click the dvd/cd drive and on the left column you'll see EJECT, hit that and it should open it too. If that EJECT doesn't work i think it's def something mechanical.

My old crappy computer ONLY ejected the CD drive by the paperclip method.

I tried it - I hear noises as though it is trying to open but nothing.
So who should I call to fix this problem?
My computer is a HP (is that right???)
