computer question
is there a way to retrieve a previous version of a file?
at work, we send participants letters. usually, they are templates. every now and then, we have to copose a letter.
well, i wrote a perfect letter about change of address about two weeks ago. since then, i've re-written on the same document and saved.
is there a way that i can find the previously saved version of said letter?
i just realized i need to send the same thing to another participat.
it would save me quite a bit of work.

Re: computer question
The newer versions of Word keep a history of what was changed in the file.
In general, though, you can't get older versions of the same file unless you saved it in a database, used a different name, or backed up the data on different tapes.

Re: computer question
If you have an IT department that backs up the files every day, then you have a previous version saved on your company's back-up tapes. I've had my IT department restore things many times. We do a back up twice a day, so we never lose more than 8 hours of data at a time.
Just give them the day and path of where the file should be in your system, and they should be able to give you the file.

Re: computer question
Me heart shadow copies. We backup every hour.
To the OP: It really depends on your specific setup. It is possible, yes; I have it setup on our network that we have backups every hour from 8AM-6PM. You should talk to your IT team, they are the only real people that can answer your question.
