Comsewogue School District

Can anyone tell me the good or bad about this school? We are in the process of looking for a new home and considering this area.

TIA

We live in the SD and our one DS goes to school here. We LOVE it! And we have the most AMAZING SI! Look up Dr. Rella you will see he is incredibly proactive in the Common Core testing and really involved. We have the Princeton Plan which means our schools are divided up Pre-K -2 and then they go to a different school from 3rd to 5th. If you have any questions feel free to PM me.

Dr. Rella was one of my teachers when I went there. He was an inspiring teacher, and from all accounts was/is a great administrator. He is a huge proponent of the arts (Dr. Rella started as a music and drama teacher).

I grew up there and I'm the oldest of four. My youngest brother graduated in 2009. Neighborhoods are quiet and safe. It's common to see generations of families living there - I can name at least four people in my graduating class that still live there with their spouses and kids. It's small, and everyone knows everyone else. There aren't as many opportunities for very high achieving students as there are in Three Village SD, and I don't know about the SpEd or ELL supports. But overall it's a solid middle class district.

Re: Comsewogue School District

We live in Comsewogue. Small district, only 1 middle, 1 high school. Small graduating classes. Kids aren't lost in the mix. My son is a special education student, and I've found them to be GREAT with the majority of his needs. My daughter is in elementary school. Not a fan of the school hopping due to the Princeton Plan, and that she will not attend the school in our neighborhood for grades 3-5. Other than that, no issues really. Comsewogue High School made the top 500 high school list last year, which is nice.
