Concerned ... over 5 months old and not rolling yet!
Should I be worried?
She really doesn't like her tummy and always spit up and crys after 2-3 minutes of tummy time.
She will arch her back and get on her side to look at something behind her hed but she doesn't even try to roll over.
She's almost sitting on her own for extended periods of time but refuses to roll!

I wouldn't worry about it, my daughter is almost 7 months and just started rolling over few days ago ,even though she has been crawling backward for 2 weeks now and is starting to crawl forward little by little.

The fact that she's sitting up is great! DD is 5 1/2 months and has no desire to sit up on her own. She still needs help with rolling but hates to roll toward the left (tummy to back). If she's on her back, she will roll from side to side while grabbing her feet but never over to her tummy. They will do it on their own accord I think!

DS rolled over at 6 months and DD rolled a week or two after she turned 6 months. I wouldn't be to concerned just yet.

Re: Concerned ... over 5 months old and not rolling yet!
My dd will be 6m on 22 and she just rolled for the first time on saturday. I was very worried too, and i worked with her really hard this past week. Then on sat I put her on the floor to get her bottle and my dh called me back and there she was rolling from her back to her stomach on her own.. Now shes a champ and keeps doing it, but still hasnt rolled from stomach to back.
everytime i put her on stomach she screams and then spits up..

OY! What to expect..will make you nuts. when you are PG and when they are born. I don't have to tell you that babies do things at their own pace. She will just do it one day.

Re: Concerned ... over 5 months old and not rolling yet!
I dont really know how to explain this...but Im gonna try...
Those guidelines...the ones that tell you a baby should roll at yada yada yada..was written BEFORE you put babies to sleep strictly on their backs!!!! Long story short it's easier for babies to roll tummy to back than back to tummy..so by putting them to sleep on their backs we are changing it up. But the guidelines really havent changed to take this into account.
Please tell me this makes some amount of sense...

I was worried too because that was my DS. but i would say by 5 1/2 mos i stopped trying to get him to roll fom his tummy to his back and tried the opposite. I would put him on his back and hold his toys away from him so he would grab towards them.. That was when he rolled over. He is 6 mos now and still i have to do this to get him to roll. But he is doing it more and more. be patient, she will do it
