Concert tix: MAJOR RANT
What the he11 is up w/ these concert tix prices these days? I just tried for Coldplay tix at Jones Beach and cheapest im seeing is $175!!!  I have been a LOYAL Coldplay fan before anyone knew who the heck they were. And now REAL fans cant even go to shows bc these corportations who own trhese venues are asking EXORBORANT prices for concert tix. Same thing happened w/ DMB tix.
Im so LIVID!!!

Wow. It seems like ALL bands are like this now. We got tickets for DMB at Jones beach but they were $70, we got them through the Warehouse.

I know. I saw the cheapest tickets at $158/pp for Coldplay on the top row!!!!! I LOVE Coldplay but would NOT spend that much to see them-if you could even actually SEE them :0

DON'T buy those tickets, they are scalpers. Live Nation is not even selling the tickets and the show is no longer listed on Coldplay's websites so it looks like it's not happening.
The tickets on Live Nation for other coldplay shows were more reasonable, but still the prices have gone up alot.

Luckily i have nice inlaws who bought me tix for my bday for the show at Bethel Woods up in Woodstock

I didn't even look at the Cold Play prices since it was scheduled while I would be away on business trip.
We got DMB tickets but I am not sure how much they were since they are my birthday present!
Ticket prices in general for everything are crazy!

After the high ticket prices Ticketmaster throws in a few fees for fun too. Convenience charge, surcharge, IOwnTicketMasterAndWantToGoOutForLunchToday Charge.
Even inexpensive concert tickets are expensive with all the fees .

Concert tickets in general are through the roof. And i'm talking face value, not adding ticket surcharges.
I believe concert tickets are so much because this is one of the main source of artist income now.
Because of all the illegal music downloading, CD sales (as well as legit itunes purchases) are way down from what artists 10 years ago were making (even with inflation). So the artists are just getting their $$$$$ through live shows.

This is what gets me. For one concert the ticket was $12, but fees were an additional $7.25 -- almost as much as the ticket itself!

We had a chance to get tickets for the Green Day concert at The Bowery and passed on it because they were $65, plus $12 'handling' fee and $2.50 some other fee.
Sorry, but i'm not paying almost $80 to see Green Day (or anyone) at the Bowery.
It would have to be Led Zeppelin for me to do that, and that ain't happening!
I agree, ticket prices are out of control but its not going to change for the better, only get worse i think!
