Re: Concrete slab for shed

oooh, I don't think I would do that....

Ladies, correct me if I'm wrong... I'm fairly sure that laying any concrete foundation = increased property taxes.... as long as it's on blocks/bricks, I believe it doesn't change the taxes.....

Re: Concrete slab for shed

If you lay concrete, your taxes will go up providing you file for a permit with the town......If you do it w/o filing a permit you might have a hard time if/when you go to sell the house..........

We put up a shed last year. Our contractor layed it on wood and drilled it into cinder blocks.

Re: Concrete slab for shed

the house we just bought has a 12x12 shed on concrete slab and they had to get the CO for it before they could sell it. So putting it on blocks is better and cheaper on your taxes.

Re: Concrete slab for shed

After I posted I realized adding a concrete slabl would increase my taxes.

If I add a shed that comes with the floor do you think we still need to add cinder blocks or anything underneath or can we just put it on the ground?

Re: Concrete slab for shed

Here is one shed that has a plastic flooring with it. You can just put that right on the grass or dirt then.http://www.competitiveedgeproducts.com/detail.aspx?ID=711

ITA! Don't pour a slab!!! It will raise the taxes on your home. Use bricks or concrete pavers instead.

Re: Concrete slab for shed

We just installed a Rubbermaid one, 7.5x10, and it came with the plastic floor. We called the company and they told us to lay gravel under to level the ground surface. I think it was pea gravel (the very small gravel). That's the one they told us to use.

Yup, if we ever move our shed, we are not pouring a new slab of concrete. We would buy the Rubbermaid one with the plastic floor and put the gravel down. And the gravel is good for drainage too!Chat Icon

Re: Concrete slab for shed

We have the shed on wood and then on cinder blocks so the wood doesn't touch the ground. You dont want termites ruining your shed or carpenter ants. We do have a slab but its in front of the shed sort of like a landing but the home came with it.
