Confused about cheese (yeah, I know- REALLY important-lol)
I LOVE cheese and the thought of staying away from my 2 favorite cheeses is killer- fresh mozz. and blue cheese. I will survive, however I am confused because of the reason. I do know that these are considered fresh cheeses because they can be made with unpasturized milk and can carry Listeria. However, many labels I read have pasturized milk as the first ingredient. So this is my confusion- is it ok to eat these cheeses as long as I know they have been made with pasturized milk?

Yup! Perfectly safe. And most people I know (self included) eat a lot of other things too as long as it's in "moderation".
I also often wondered about the women in Japan, where sushi is a staple in their diet...........what do they do when they get preggers.........

My midwife told me I could eat fresh mozz as long as it wasn't the kind that sits out in a vat of water. Ivarone bros. has a tray and each piece it wrapped up. That's fine. The deli by me has each wrapped, but in a deep tray, sitting in water. That isn't good.
Most cheeses are pasturiezed. So don't worry too much. I have been avoiding blue cheese though because it is made of mold. I wasn't told by my midwife to do that.. but, I thought it kind of made sense. I also haven't had any brie.
