confused about taxes
I'm currently looking on mlsli for a home in nassau county and I do not want to purchase a house above a certain amount in annual taxes. I have looked on nassaucountyny.gov to confirm the taxes listed on mlsli but my question is how do I find out if my taxes will go up once I purchase the house? I've seen posts where people found out their taxes went up at closing. I want to avoid any surprises. Can anyone explain this to me?

Re: confused about taxes
Call the Town Assessor's office that the house is located in and you can learn the real taxes and if they will be going up.

Re: confused about taxes
Most likely they will be going up once you purchase they home b/c they will re-assess it. Call the county office to verify by how much. You can grieve your taxes and also file STAR which will help.
