Congress- Fertility Act..make sure you show your support

I just got this in my e-mail today. Make sure you send your congress reps and senators and president Bush an e-mail and phone call to pass this bill into law!!!



Thank you for expressing your support for H.R. 735, the Family Building Act of 2005. It is important for me to have the benefit of your views, and I appreciate the time you have taken to contact me. As you know, infertility affects about 6.1 million people in the United States, or about 10 percent of men and women of reproductive age. Recent improvements in fertility treatment have made it possible for many women and couples to become pregnant through the use of various medical procedures such as in vitro fertilization (IVF), intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), and other similar procedures. The Family Building Act of 2005 attempts to aid families in paying for the high cost of infertility treatments by amending the Public Health Service Act, the Employee Retirement Income Security Act, and the Federal Employees Health Benefits Plan, to require health plans to provide benefits for treatment of infertility. Specifically, this legislation would require a group health plan or health insurance issuer that offers coverage for obstetrical services to also include coverage for infertility treatments. This legislation has been referred to the House Committees on Energy and Commerce, Ways and Means, and Education and the Workforce for consideration. Please be assured that I support this legislation or any other bill that helps couples afford the cost of conceiving. Should this legislation be brought to the attention of the full House of Representatives, please know that it will have my support.
