constipation in one month old..need help!
My DS is 5 weeks and recently seems hungry all the time ..no matter how much I nurse him ..so I started giving him some formula as well..I think its backing him up because he cries and lifts his legs to his chest ...his pooping has def diminished as well...
Any advice what to do? I was going to call pedicitrician on Friday and ask then as well...but in the meantime any ideas on how to get my little one to poop or at the very least keep him comfortable?

We had to do the rectal thermometer with Megan when she was constipated at that age. It worked RIGHT AWAY! The doctor said do not do it all the time obviously, but if they are uncomfortable and havent gone in 2 days, to do it to relieve them.
I also give her a warm bath and exercise her legs and it seems to help.
Good luck.

It's not unusual for newborns to go 2-3 without a bowel movement. So just because he hasn't had a bowel movement doesn't mean he's constipated.
You should definitely try taking his temp. rectally and see if that helps move things along.
His pullling his legs up can also be gas which is very painful for babies. You can bicycle his legs to help relieve some pressure and also massage his tummy and back. Babies also like it when you lay them tummy down across your lap and rub their backs.
I hope this helps.
