Re: Convection Oven
I have a GE Profile convection and I love it. I use the convection function when baking multiple trays at once. it circulates the heat for even baking.

Do you use the same temperature that you use normally?

Re: Convection Oven
My mom has one and LOVES it.
It cooks everything faster and comes out so moist!!
I think she keeps it on the same temp...just that the air is curculating so therefore helps distribute the heat and makes things cook faster

Re: Convection Oven
I also have the GE Profile convection oven. I love it. It also has a normal bake feature, but I use the convection feature the most.
I use convection because it circulates the hot air for more even cooking and it cooks faster. I use the same temperature and my oven automatically adjusts it 25 degrees lower.
Last night I cooked a rib eye on convection roast. With the probe. The easiest thing I ever did. It cooks it to a specified internal temperature dor doneness and then shuts off. I've also roasted a pork loin and a turkey.
I bake a lot too, so I always use it. We spent $2000 on it and it was the best investment ever!

Re: Convection Oven
I have a convection micro and a convection oven.
I got both so for the holidays it's like having a double oven without all of the room a double oven takes up.

Re: Convection Oven
I have a convection oven, but haven't used it on "convection mode" yet...
I am not sure how to adjust the cooking time / temps
I started to read the 4,743 page manual and gave up....

I use convection because it circulates the hot air for more even cooking and it cooks faster. I use the same temperature and my oven automatically adjusts it 25 degrees lower.
I have a Kitchenaid and it does the same thing. I put the time and temperature for a regular oven and it adjusts both (depending on what is going in - there is a setting for baked goods, meats and other)
I can also do the convection oven manually or just use the regular oven, but I usually do the automatic one.

Yup! Same temperature and so far my only problem is getting used to the accuracy of a new oven. My old one was "tempermental" so now I have to get used to 10 minutes really meaning 10 minutes.

Re: Convection Oven
We use it for roasting, especially for cooking the turkey at Thanksgiving. It cooks at a lower temperature (it auto adjusts) and it doesn't dry the meat out as much.

Re: Convection Oven
Do you use a special pan for roasting? The small manual that we have says to use the broiling pan with a rack. We don't have either.

Just use a roasting pan - some of them, like mine, have a rack in the pan so that the meat isn't sitting in the drippings while it's cooking.
