Convection Ovens - cleaning question

We just moved and DH decided to put in a convection oven instead of a regular over the range microwave. Do I need to do/use anything special to clean it? I can't find the book it came with right now and I used it this morning and would like to clean it ASAP

I have one. It's 4 onths old and I haven't cooked much in it. I try to wipe it down right after.

Is yours stainless steel inside? You can try microwaving a bowl of water for 5 minutes and let the steam loosen up anything stuck on the walls. That's what I'd do first.

Yes it is stainless inside and out. Thats a great idea with the water I hadn't even thought of that! Thanks so much!

Let me know how it works. I think someone once said to add a bit of lemon juice. Not sure though. My brain is really done from grading final exams for 8 hours todayChat Icon

Re: Convection Ovens - cleaning question

My mom has a convection oven and she doenst use anything in the oven to clean it. She just locks the oven and starts the clean cycle. The oven gets so hot that it burns anything that is stuck to the walls of the oven. When the oven is cool (you will not be able to open the door until the oven cools down completly...then the lock will release) all you will have left on the bottom of the oven is some ashes. Just wipe up and you have a nice clean oven.

Floor ovens yes! But the original post was about a microwave convection oven. I have the GE profile and there isn't a self-clean feature on the micro. On my oven yes, but not the convenction micro.

Do some micro convections have self clean?Chat Icon

No problem. That's what I figured. I actually got the micro convection and convenction oven so I'd have the convenience of a "double oven" during the holidays. Originally, my kitchen had a double oven but I decided to go with more cabinets.
