convertible car seats.

Do I need a set in both cars? DH and I went to BBB today and they are ridulously expensive. What have you all done?

Re: convertible car seats.

While I'm home on maternity leave we will only have them in my car.

When I go back, by that time they will be out of the infant seats, we will install the next set in one car only.

I have to leave for work by 6:15 and have no time to drop them off in the morning. DH works closer to home and leaves later so he most likely will be dropping off and picking them up at daycare. While I get out earlier (teacher) I always have a few hours of schoolwork to do everyday so I'll run home early and get as much done as possible before DH brings the kids home about 5 pm.

Not sure what we'll do when DH travels for business. I might have to switch cars with the IL's and they might have to drop off and pick up.Chat Icon

So far that's our plan only two seats for us.

Re: convertible car seats.

We just have two seats... for longer trips when we might use DH's car, we'll just move them over to his car. IMO, they're too pricey to get 2 sets.

does britax make extra bases? I looked at BBB but did not see any. Of course, no one was around to find out.

Are they easy to install by yourself? I have Eddie Bauer ones that we were going to use in DH's car, and buy the Britaxes for mine because if we use his car 3 times in a year I'd be surprised. I think I want them in both cars in case I drop them somewhere, and he picks them up.

DH has always done the installation with the infant seats... we haven't done the convertible ones yet, but he seems confident in doing it. For the few times we'd actually move them, it's probably not that time consuming

Being that I haven't had mine installed yet, I didn't think that they had bases... I thought only infant carriers didChat Icon

We needed 4 seats.

On the days that they go to daycare, I drop them off and DH picks them up while I am still at work, so I was not leaving the seats everyday at daycare.

With DH being home with them from 1:00 on, we really needed a set in each car so that one would not be stuck without seats.
