Cooked Sushi -Please Come in if you've eaten sushi!

What counts as cooked safe sushi? Would it be anything that's tempura and friend? Like a shrimp tempura roll?

Please let me know what you ate at a sushi restaurant!

When you're saying crab and lobster, was it tempura? Or how was it prepared that you knew it was cooked? Thanks!

TO be honest, I don't remember, but I would have eaten it either way.....cooked, raw, tempura, whatever

I just avoided the fish for now, but since I'm due today, I'll have spicy tuna rolls soon!


I wouldn't worry TOO much about it, moderation is key....

I have had shrimp tempura and spring rolls (chinese food).

anything tempura is cooked, so it safe.
All crabmeat and shrimp, except for "sweet shrimp" is cooked, so you can also have california rolls, boston rolls.
All eel is cooked.

My dr. said raw sushi occasionally is fine, and that is my guilty pleasure.

I'm probably in the minority but I ate uncooked sushi while pregnant with both kids but from places I had eaten from in the past.

I just made sure it said COOKED shrimp in the roll... or I asked...

When ordering out, I've stuck to any rolls that have shrimp, eel, or crab/pollack (like california rolls). The only thing I asked is that they didn't put roe or whatever those little, orange looking fish egg things are called on my rolls. I also asked that they do mine separately from DH's rolls since he tends to eat his rolls raw.

Otherwise, I make my own sushi rolls at home

I usually have shrimp tempura or california rolls. Sometimes I do cheat and get the eggs on the outside.

I haven't eaten sushi yet, but all I eat at sushi places are shrimp, crab or lobster and they are all cooked. Shellfish rolls are cooked, so you should be just fine!

I went on a 2 week sushi shrimp tempura roll kick in my 2nd trimester - it's cooked, it's ok!

i'm still eating california rolls....miss my alaska rolls though.

i can't say i ever got sick from sushi, and i eat it from everywhere, all the time. still scares me to eat it during pregnancy.

I have had raw on occassion. I have been eating at Kotobuki for 10 years now and never gotten sick. Other than that, I have shrimp, crab, lobster, and I dont care about the little fishy eggs on the outside...bring em on! If I am eating raw, however, I do stay away from tuna. If you are looking for ideas of what to eat, can I suggest a spider roll? They are yummy!

I don't think I've ever seen shrimp, crab or lobster sushi prepared raw. I had shrimp/shrimp tempura, california rolls and vegetable rolls. I always made sure they were prepared separately from the raw sushi.

at a reputable sushi restaurant, I would get anything.

but to be on the safe side.

cali rolls are cooked. even those with real crab legs.

shrimp rolls are cooked. (even the non tempura cold ones)

eel rolls are cooked.

and of course tempura.

sushi gives me TREMENDOUS heartburn though, and it's strangely enough b/c of the rice.

i have not been able to eat rice my entire pregnancy, so I can't have sushi even though I am fine with eating it.

We go out for sushi at least once a week.

I stick with cooked rolls, most of the once suggested above. Mostly dragon rolls with eel over california rolls.

I go to the same couple of restaurants that I trust. So at this point they know I'll make substitutions and ask for certain things that aren't on the menu.

I'm allergic to shellfish, so I can't have things with shrimp, lobster or real crab. However, the sushi chefs have always accomodated me and I don't really feel like I've missed out on having sushi this whole pregnancy. Crab stick and eel have been my saviors.

I do miss some raw rolls though. But in due time...

No such thing as cooked sushi

Sushi means raw fish.

I have had shrimp tempura rolls when I needed to satify my craving. I sometimes think I just miss the soy sauce

I have had california rolls, shrimp tempura , lobster rolls and Spider roll ( which is cooked king crab)

I just wanted you to know, since reading this post last night and this morning I've been CRAVING sushi like crazy....and since I was due yesterday I'm going to wait till baby arrives and then go eat sushi crazy!!!!!!
