Cooking for a house full of hungry people -- ski weekend!
So we're going on a ski weekend with about 12 people total in the house. The first night one of the other wives is going to do baked ziti. I said I would do dinner for the second night. I don't ski and neither does my SIL who will be there with me so we can work on things during the day if needed. Any suggestions? The kitchen is supposedly fully outfitted and I can bring my crockpot if needed. I'm just trying to think of something that will stretch but will also be enough food since everyone will probably be really hungry and it's at least half guys.
Any suggestions? I'm not super crockpot experienced and have never done pulled pork or anything like that (makes me nervous!)...

Don't be nervous. Pulled pork is really easy. DH made it a few weeks ago. He used a dry pork rub then put it in the crock with a cup of root beer. Set it on low for 7 hrs. Shred it up, mix in a bottle of Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce, cook an additional 30 min. Serve on buns with mac and cheese and baked beans on the side.
Chili is also really easy in the crockpot and that's a good post-ski meal. You can serve it over rice with cornbread on the side.

I was also going to suggest pulled pork! So simple in the crock pot. All we use is the pork shoulder and a can of gingerale!!! Then add bbq sauce after it is pulled.

I think both of these ideas are great. Pulled pork is super easy in the crockpot. I like it with coleslaw.
I do chicken chili (not in the crockpot though) and that's great for a crowd. two rotisserie chickens from the supermarket would probably be plenty and would make your life pretty easy. Serve with sour cream, cheese, and tostitos scoops. Cornbread and a green salad would be good too. If you're adventurous, you could do a beef chili also for variety.

I'd do Chicken and Dumplings.. it's creamy, delicious and it warms your belly. When we go skiing it's always a massive favorite after a long day on the slopes. A big green salad is a nice (and super easy) side.
You could also just do a regular chicken soup with noodles or rice and have a big loaf of warm bread to go with.

Chili is great, and you can do a toppings bar so everyone can make it to their liking.
Homemade cornbread will be a hit after skiing as well!

What about pot roast? You can throw one in the crock pot and one in the oven so you'll have plenty. It's warm, hearty and everything cooks together.

If you don't use your crock pot for dinner, you can use it for some apple cider

Re: Cooking for a house full of hungry people -- ski weekend!
we have gone to the outerbanks and rented a house 2 times and I have done all the cooking, its summer tho, but here are some things i have done:
chicken parm, meatballs, pasta, garlic bread taco night Steaks, baked potatoes, roasted veggies Stuffed shrimp Grilled tilapia/tilapia oreganata (or other fish) sausage. peppers, onions with some good rolls
Other ideas: Pulled pork would be perfect... couple tenderloin in the crock pot and sweet baby rays BBQ sauce is all you need. THen some baked mac n cheese, maybe cornbread!
Pizzas Chili, maybe nachos with it parm crusted chicken or chicken rollatini with pasta and vodka sauce on the side crab cakes with a side you all like chicken cordon blue fajitas

Re: Cooking for a house full of hungry people -- ski weekend!
Thanks for all the suggestions! I decided to stop over thinking and just do a crock pot full of chili, all the toppings, cornbread, a green salad, and some chips and dips and be done with it!
