What are shallots? And where in the supermarket do I find them? 
I need them for a recipe I want to make tonight...

they are small onions

I always used to get them confused with scallions.
It doesn't help when the produce store doesn't label things properly or at all.
But yes, they should be by the garlic.

I got the recipe for Rachel Rays penne ala vodka from the recipe board and I figured it was a cold, yukcy night to make it...
Also, chicken stock and chicken broth are the same thing right?
(Can you tell I rarely cook??)

i think chicken stock comes from when you boil a chicken and chicken broth comes from a can or boullion cubes that dissolve in hot water

I used them just the other night for ala vodka sauce! I like shallots in salad too (used them for that last night).
