Cooper's sick (FYI--TMI)... UPDATE 9/3
Saturday night/early Sunday morning Cooper started to throw up and have really loose stool (of course I wasn't home and it was only FH). All day Sunday and into today he's been off - not playing and being his crazy usual self - and his poop has been straight liquid mixed with a little blood (I call the ER Vet and they said the blood was probably caused by strain because he'd been pushing with nothing really coming out more times a day than usual). Sunday, we didn't feed him at all and only put down water at night (just to avoid any throwing up). Today, we fed him boiled chicken and rice and just put down some pedialyte for him... his poop is still totally liquid with a little bit of blood in it and he's still not as active usual (he's stopped throwing up though).
Does anyone else have any other suggestions of what we could do? Our next step is taking him to the vet, but for this, I know there is only so much they could do for him (and only so much that they could advise us to do that we haven't already done). Our poor baby isn't feeling well and we feel so helpless .
UPDATE (9/2)
Just got back from the vet... without Coop
They are keeping him there to hook him up to an IV to hydrate him. They did say it's flu season for dogs so they've been seeing a lot of this.
They'll take blood and give him a shot of antibiotic. Hopefully he'll be able to come home tonight.

UPDATE (9/3)
Well, he ended up having to spend the night at the vet hooked up to IV (for the better... we know). I called this morning to check on him and they told me that he still had diarreah . They are going to continue to monitor him closely and continue with the IV and antibiotics. I really hope he gets better and can come home. My poor little guy 
UPDATE AGAIN!!
He's coming home!! He had a normal poop and the blood work came back A-OK! YAY!!!

Ollie had this a few weeks ago. The vet had prescribed her some kind of anti-diarrhea medicine and that helped. We had to feed her rice and chicken for like 2 weeks until her stool went back to normal and then we changed her food. Maybe you can just call the vet and see if s/he thinks it's necessary to bring cooper in? I hope he feels better soon

Thanks Jess... we're definitely doing the rice and chicken thing until his poop is back to normal... I'll definitely have to call our reg. vet to see what he says.

My dog Evee had this the beginning of the year and was prescribed the same medicine. I am surprised the vet didnt say to bring him in right away. We waited a day and then took her to the ER vet because she was very listless. They had to get IV's put in Evee to help her re-hydrate and she also got a shot of some solution for dehydration (it was like a big lump on her back). I would keep feeding him rice and chicken but please see the vet he might have some virus that he can't shake. This is what Evee had it was some sort of virus in her intestines from possibly eating something she was not supposed to. The anti diarrhea medicine should help if you ask for it. I hope he feels better.

If it keeps up I would take him to the vet....Misty had this once and they also gave her diarrhea meds and sent her home on a bland diet. Once it's out of their system they usually do okay.

Thanks everyone! We're heading to the vet today... this morning marks day number 3 of really bad diarreah so we can't prolong going to the vet anymore... the chicken and rice isn't doing the trick... my poor bubby

I hope he feels better. The vet will help him and see what the issue is. Sounds like he has a virus and medicine should knock it right out. Keep us posted.

I am so glad he is better. It sad when your dog gets sick. there isn't much we can do. But I am glad he is better!!

He's good... you could so tell that he was so happy to be home last night... but he was exhausted! It was so hard to leave him this morning and I can't wait to get home to see him!!

Aww glad he is doing better. That is probably all he needed was fluids to help him along. Glad he is home and doing better.
