Coordinating halloween costumes-am I crazy?

Had some a close friend and her family over for dinner on Sat along with my in laws.

We were talking about Halloween costumes for the kids and I mentioned that Claire wants to be a pirate and that I was going make Owen a parrot costume or a pirate booty costume.

They all looked at me like I had 3 heads when I said I wanted to coordinate the kids for Halloween for a few years until Owen starts picking out his own stuff (I figure I have 2 or 3 years left, max).

Now, I know this is probably the wrong forum for this since I assume most of you are with me on this (or at least some, right??Chat Icon )

But-he is a baby and doesn't have any preferences right now so why wouldn't I have them coordinate? Why would I pick something random?

He doesn't have any favorites yet so it would be me picking something I like for him anyway and since I like coordination more than most things and life, what's wrong with having him be something cute that goes with what his sister is wearing?

Just thought I would throw this out there for discussion!

No, you're not crazy! I'm trying to coordinate DD and DS's Halloween costume as well. I'm leaning towards Luke and Leia from Star Wars right now, but we'll see Chat Icon

I'm all for coordinating costumes while you can. Last year my DS (3years old) wanted to be a fireman....so the baby (9 months old) was a dalmation puppy. this year the older one wants to be a storm trooper, so the younger one will be yoda...... I figured this will be the last year for the younger one not to care what he is......

no you're not crazy. I know a lot of people do this. Not sure if I will if and when I have DC #2, but I see nothing wrong with it

Re: Coordinating halloween costumes-am I crazy?

I'm with you since I tried. I even went further. DH and I are going as Mr. And Mrs. Potato head and then teh kids are jessie and the baby was supposed to be the pizza planet alien but it didn't fit right Chat Icon so now I have to find another Toy Story character for him. We did the whole family! And yes I'm a little crazy I realize! But it's fun!

Re: Coordinating halloween costumes-am I crazy?

I think coordinating costumes are GREAT!

DS is almost 4 and will be The Big Bad Wolf
DD is 2 1/2 and will be Little Red Riding Hood

I'm going to do it as long as they will let me but I assume this is my last year! Chat Icon

You are definitely not crazy! My sister and I were just saying we wished we coordinated all the kids costumes this year! We are going to try to next year...my oldest niece will be 5, so she will pick out her own, and then we are going to coordinate the little 2 around her Chat Icon

Mine are going to be coordinated. DS is 3 and will be Peter Pan. DD is 1 and will be Tinkerbell.

I've known for a year this is what I wanted to do Chat Icon I love the idea! I sense this may be the only year I can get away with it with DS.

It's cute! Go for it!

Re: Coordinating halloween costumes-am I crazy?

It's not like they'll willingly coordinate their costumes when they're 6 or 7 so you have to do it now!

DD1 is going to be a ladybug this year, DD2 is debuting 10/15 and we have a ladybug swaddle/hat set for her.

i was snow white one year and my brother and our 2 family friends were my 3 dwarfs.

Re: Coordinating halloween costumes-am I crazy?

Wait... you mean there are people who would choose NOT to coordinate their kids?? Chat Icon

You have such a small window of opportunity to do this, how could you not take advantage???
