Is anyone doing this, how much is it? Exactly what is it for?

I am doing it -- there are a few reasons why but I am more concerned with the FUTURE since right now a public cord bank can meet the needs. But I think that in the future there will be so many more diseases and illnesses that can be cured with cord blood and it might be necessary at that point to have access to your OWN cord blood, not just anyone's.
We are paying in 6 monthly installments for 25 years of storage - we will pay $670/month for 6 months and be done with it. Cheaper than paying on a monthly or yearly basis.
