Corn on the cob??

Chat Icon

I made this only one time before and when I say "I" it really means my Dad basically did everything. I remember him saying they need to boil for a while - but how long??

I have two ears - one for me and one for DH Chat Icon

Can anyone tell me how long they need to be in the water for? Also, is there a "sign" as to when they are ready? Chat Icon

Re: Corn on the cob??

Add water to the pot, enough to cover the corn and bring to a boil

Add the corn and cook for 3-10 minutes, depending on how soft you like the corn. you should be good in about 7 minutes or so. Just feel the corn, you basically are heating it and softening the kernnels.

ETA: one good tip my dad did tell me was to add a little milk to the water - like half a cup - makes it taste better?

If it is still in the husk you can put it in the microwave and it comes out just as good!

we do ours in the microwave... SO yummy- b/c it holds all of its juice in- it doesn't get lost in the pot of water.
we used to take all of the husk off and put it in saran wrap but now we put it in a ziplock bag and leave it slightly open...
