Corned beef & Cabbage
Does anyone have any good receipes for Corned Beef & Cabbage. Maybe in the crock pot.

My best recipe for corned beef entails tossing it in the garbage & getting some better food. I'll ask my corned beef loving mom for you.

Just made it the other day.... I cut 5 red potatoes in half and put them in the bottom with a couple of cabbage wedges (I only bought one cabbage) poured a can of beer and 1/2 cup of malt vinegar in the pot . Laid the corned beef on top with a couple more cabbages and cooked it for 10 hours on low.

From my mom: MOM's CORNED BEEF & CABBAGE DINNER WITH HORSERADISH SAUCE Corned Beef brisket ( ½ = 4-5 lbs) 1 clove garlic 3 onion slices 1 stalk celery 4 cloves 1 carrot, pared 6 whole black peppers afew sprigs parsley 1 bay leaf ½ teas dried rosemary
Corned Beef on top of the stove or cooked all day in a crock pot. In lg pot, cover brisket with cold water.. add everything, bring to boil, cover, reduce heat.. Simmer ½ brisket for approx 4-5 hours.. whole 5-6 hrs or until tender.. (add 1 lg onion to be used for the sauce)
Corned beef in the oven Place brisket on rack in roasting pan.. add enough water to touch top of rack.. cover tightly with heavy duty foil.. Place in 350 preheated oven.. Bake for 1 hour, add you choice o vegetables, recover w foil, then back until fork tender..(total cooking time 2-3hours depending on the size of the brisket) Remove liquid, then brisket & add glaze, then backe uncoverd for 10 min longer.. (use water from potatoes for horseradish sauce) Glaze…. Mix 1 cup brown sugar with 2 teasp of prepared mustard, add small amount of currant jelly, spread over top of brisket
Potatoes Red potatoes …2-4 per person, depending on size of potatoes… cut into chunks.. put into cold water & boil approx 20 minutes until done …(fork goes in easily) (& 2 Idaho potatoes peeled.. to be used for the sauce)
Cabbage 1 head cabbage cut in ¼ ‘s… cut out most of core ¼ - ½ lb bacon cut up 1 lg onion, chopped
Wash cabbage, put into lg pot of boiling water.. boil approx 20 min Cook bacon & onion in frying pan until crispy, (add a little olive oil if needed) drain onto paper towel, but save bacon grease.. Drain cabbage well & throw back into pot & add bacon & onion & some of the bacon fat.. mix well & serve
Horseradish Sauce 2 hot cooked potatoes.. ½ teas dry mustard 1 cup hot liquid from the corned beef pot 1 cup sour cream 1 tables prepared horseradish 4 tablesp butter 1 teasp Worcestershire sauce salt & pepper 1 hot cooked onion from the pot
Put potatoes, onion & butter into blender or food processor & puree.. Add pot liquid, mustard, Worcestershire sauce & horseradish & blend… Add sour cream, s & p, & blend thoroughly.. If a thicker sauce is desired, add some more cooked potatoes

I get it at a restaurant...I made lamb stew instead and it is awesome!! AND we will eat if for a few days, not just tomorrow...
