Re: Cornell Medical Center
I was looking into them. I know a ton of people who have gone there and were successful. They do not take insurance (that i'm aware of). I was recommended to three doctors there. Rosenwaks (hard to get an appointment), Goldschlag and Chung.
I picked RMA of NY because my good friend had gone there (and she raved about them) and their stats were close to the other one. Plus they took my insurance (oxford).
If I'm not successful (not sure when i will think that) I will switch to that practice. most likely.
Good luck.

Re: Cornell Medical Center
I believe they take the Empire Gov't plan and that is it...otherwise you lay it out, submit forms, and PRAY
I am a patient of Dr Davis
I would recommend him to anyone
Most RE's there specialize in certain problems
I have not been successful, but I know many others that have been...

Re: Cornell Medical Center
My FIL works ar Cornell and I didn't use their center!
I chose to go with Beth Isreal because I loved the RE and he took my insurance. They are a smaller practice with very good success rates!
That being said, Cornell is top rated and really has some great research going on in the area of infertility!

Re: Cornell Medical Center
I am at Cornell and could not say anything but the best about them.
They were the first ones to try IVF in the US (and had the first IVF baby in the states).
They were the first clinic in the world to develop ICSI (together with Dr Palermo who still works there).
They were the first to develop TESE (testicular sperm extraction) and have the best male urology department in the country.
They are the only clinic in NY that uses co-culture (cells from the inside of the uterus that are combined with the egg & the sperm to help with fertilization and to make a better quality embryos).
Should I go on?? I just adore all the doctors there...yes, they are expensive and very busy and at times you might feel that you are not getting the care/attention you want but at the end, the results are what counts.....
I am a patient of Dr Goldshlag who I love but I also met Dr Chung who is very very nice. Dr Goldshlag takes my insurance (BCBS) and I only pay $20 for each visit. Few of the doctors there take insurance. Call each one and find out.
Dr Davis is the best if you are dealing with high FSH...
GL to you!

Re: Cornell Medical Center
I guess you could say that I am a Cornell success story. I was treated by Dr. Goldschlag and loved him. He was always so kind and gentle, but didn't sugar coat anything. We were fortunate enough that they accepted our insurance (NYS Empire plan- DH is a state employee).

Re: Cornell Medical Center
I am a patient of Dr Chungs at Cornell. I have mostly all good things to say about them. He accepts my insurance - United.
negatives: 1) regardless of taking insurance - all infertility procedures at CMRI are to be paid for out of pocket so you have to have the money availalbe. You will be reimbursed as your ins. says - but plan to have $20k available in a 'baby fund.'
2) waiting time is getting longer and longer. prepare to wait 1/2 to 1 hour to get in for your appts. these dr's are doing emergency procedures all the time so those are generally more important and therefore make you wait.
3) when you are 'monitoring' - they have hours 6-8am.....regardless of when you get there the lines can be out the door and you can be waiting for hours for that as well. I was told once that someone didnt get out until noon.
these 'bad' things are only a result of Cornell being very popular and the best in the business.
HOWEVER, I am considering going to RMA of CT bc i now live in CT with my husband and they have a wonderfully reputable donor egg program and also have great statistics (same as cornell - just way less patients.)
Hope this helps....

Re: Cornell Medical Center
Wow, I keep wondering if I should switch to Cornell, but I would never be able to make their monitoring hours of 6-8am coming from way out on LI.

I used to do it when I lived in Patchogue!!!
Another thing about Cornell
Is is NOT a hand holding type place...so if that is what you need, it is not for you...

Re: Cornell Medical Center
Good to know, if I decide to switch in the future. My current NYC RE has monitoring in GC now. I can do that. Though hopefully i wont need to make this decision.
