Re: Cosmetic Surgeon In a Jar?? -- Any Feedback
Here are the ingredients:
Water Cyclopentasiloxane silicone, used for feel Cyclohexasiloxane silicone, used for feel Glycerin moisturizier Behenyl Alcohol fatty alcohol, used forthickening Glyceryl Stearate emulsifier Butylene Glycol many functions, not important to the end user really Squalane moisturizer Polyglyceryl-10 Pentastearate emulsifier, skin conditioner
These ingredients are used under 1% How do I know? Ingredients on a label are listed from highest % to lowest%. Once you reach 1% then they can be in any order. Phenoxyethanol is a preservative not used above 1% so thats how we tell the cut off point. All of the "active" ingredients in this formula are used under 1%. When active ingredients are tested in clinical trials they are often used at higher levels (1-5%)- again this depends on the ingredient. So the claims stated on the website for each "active" may be based on the raw material data (tested at higher levels) therefore this cream may not have the same effects. Many ingredients below this point are just to be on the label
Phenoxyethanol preservative Sodium Hyaluronate this is "Actimoist Bio 2" which is a 1% solution of hylauronic acid, used at 1% or below is only 0.01% of hyaluronic acid, not a significant amout. HA is a moisturizier Hexapeptide-11 a good ingredient, but not used at a high enough level. Claims were made at 2.8% use level. Here is the data: http://www.archchemicals.com/Fed/PC/Docs/Peptamide_6_v1.6.pdf Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, Part of ingredient blend Haloxyl, recommended at 2%. http://www.crodausa.com/html_product_sheets/SedfeatureHaloxyl.htm Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-3, part of haloxyl Disodium Lauriminodipropionate Tocopheryl Phosphates, skin conditioner Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, ester of vitamin c, recommended use 0.5-2% Retinyl Palmitate, ester of vitamin A, again use level is too low Titanium Dioxide (C177891), probably for color Hibiscus Sabdariffa Flower Extract, botanical extract, at this level just for "label" Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Root, botanical extract, at this level just for "label" Steareth-20, part of haloxl Hydroxysuccinimide, part of haloxyl Chrysin, part of haloxyl Fragrance, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) See Oil, botanical extract, at this level just for "label" Hydroxyethylcellulose, thickener, stabilizer Xanthan Gum, thickener, stabilizer Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate, emulsifier Sodium Hydroxide, adjust pH Methyldihydrojasmonate, fragrance ingredient Benzoic Acid, preservative Dehydroacetic Acid, preservative Silica, not important Aluminum Oxide not important
Heres my opinion.... Overall, I would say this is a pretty simple and basic cream. The silicones are high so it probably feels very nice. However, all of their claims are based on active ingredients used below the recommended use levels. I don't see any data from their own clinical studies which means they took the raw material data, which is not applicable at low use levels. Most of their "actives" are used only to get the name on the label. I would NOT recommend buying this cream for $65. This is similar to an "oil of olay" anti-aging cream IMO.
