Cost of inspector and closing lawyer
How much did your inspector charge? Did it include a termite inspection?
How much did your attorney charge to close?
I just want to make sure what we are being quoted is reasonable....

I think we got an engineer and it cost of 450 with the termite inspection. You can get an inspector or an engineer and the engineers are supposedly more thorough

Our engineer was $450 - with termite inspection - he was great - let me know if you want his name. My DH's best friend used him as well.
Lawyer costs - we were recommended through a friend - we find out the price tonight - I will keep you posted.

I forgot the lawyer part-this is hwta I used to do for a living. You could get a lawyer for 750 however someone who charges that probably has lots of clients and you may not necessarily get the service you want if you are high maintenance. I would say the avg is 850-1000

I suggest you get an engineer, not an inspector. And don't use the one the real estate agency recommends.
I had two engineers for two different houses. The first charged $475 w/ termite inspection. Then he wasn't available when we needed him again so I got one that charged $375 w/o termite inspection. I highly recommend that you use a professional exterminator for termites rather than an engineer.
My lawyer is $950.

I think we paid $450 for our inspection, we used Pillar to Post.
A family friend handled the legal part, so we didn't pay a attny fee. But I know lawyers that charge anywhere from $500-$1200.

just a question, why wouldnt you use a recommendation? i'm a REA and i get business cards from people all the time with coupons and stuff so i pass it along to my buyers. once an inspector/engineer is hired they work for the buyer. maybe other realtors are sneaky, but not this one....

Our engineer with termite inspection was either $400 or $450. Our lawyer was either $800 or $850. He was AWESOME! I would've paid more for him!

$350 for inspection but I paid him in cash and he gave me a discount. He was very thorough... 4 hours in the house. That included termite inspection.
On the house we bought our lawyer was free through my union but he was horrible and annoying.
For our sale we paid a lawyer $950

We paid I think $415 for the engineer with termite inspection. I am a real estate attorney so I paid nothing for the closing (I had one of my friends do it) but if you want a recommendation I would be happy to give you one he charges $950.00.
