Cost of Nannies
If you use a nanny (live out), how much do you pay them per hour? I am going to be starting the interview process shortly and want to know what the going rate is. Also, if you take a vacation day, do nannies normally get paid even if they don't work that day?
TIA

Re: Cost of Nannies
I was a nanny for 5 years (live out). I was paid $10 per hour. The mother I worked for was a SAHM, but I was there to amuse the kids basically and let her run out to do errands during the day. During the holidays I would get a nice gift from them and also 2 weeks paid vacation for myself.

Re: Cost of Nannies
I had/have a nanny (but always a friend or relative) and we would make an arrangment on price. I only needed someone 3 days a week but long days. I would pay a lump sum and if I came home early I still paid that amount. You will need to arrange how you will pay days off for you and for them as well as vacation time. That should be spoken and agreed up on up front. If you want more details on what I paid/pay please forum mail me.

Re: Cost of Nannies
I used to be a nanny(live out) for 2 differentfamilies.....I had my daughter when I was young so I needed a job where I could bring her too. The pay all depends.........
The first job was $250wk but all I had to do was put both kids on the bus and take them off at 3 and stay til they got home at 430
second was 4 10hr days a week and it was $300wk and if she needed me on a weekend I would watch them for $50-$100 depending on how long
both paid vacation pay all off the books too
I was actually thinking of doing this again.....I watch my 6mth old nephew for free like 3-4x a week anyway

USA Nanny is a service located in Port Jefferson. They quoted me 12-15 an hour. They have full time and part time available. It's a little expensive - for part time care (under 36 hrs a week) the placement fee is 900.00 for fulltime it's something like 2500.00.

Re: Cost of Nannies
If you or the baby are sick you still need to pay for their time..because they are reserved for you that day. Similar to how an employeer pays an employee sick time. If you and your family go on vacation the Nanny still gets paid unless you tell her up front that it is her "time off" and make arrangements for how that will be paid.
