Cost of orthodontic care?
DH and I are realizing that 6yo DS will most likely need braces but I am clueless about how much it'll cost/when we'll start.
I don't recall how much my parents paid for mine and my sister's -- but that was 20+ years ago. Our insurance plan says $1500/lifetime -- how does that work? Is it $1500 per kid over their life? Do we pay monthly? Can we FSA it over a period of years? (I had mine on for 4 years - can't imagine paying monthly for that long!).

Cost of orthodontic care?
My sons braces were $5600, so I'm guessing your insurance pays $1500 of that per kid in a lifetime. He required we put $1000 down and finance the rest interest free over two years. It came to like $156 per month or something like that. If the braces stay on longer than two years, I am done paying anyway so he just keeps coming back for adjustments and they are paid for.

Braces were about the same for us. Insurance picked up a huge portion though. I think we only paid maybe $400.

Our ins had 1500 coverage per kid lifetime. Its deducted from the price the Ortho charges. The remaining can be paid in monthly payments if the Ortho allows (most do). My total OOP was $2600 I had option to pay monthly or pay in full.
